High school graduation works a little bit different in my house. Most families have a graduation party for their kid, but my family goes on a cruise instead. Me, being ten years younger than my sister, and seven years younger than my brother meant I would being going on two cruises within three years. I was beyond excited when my sister graduated high school because this meant I would be visiting the Caribbean. When the ship first came into my sight, it was much more than I had imagined. It was huge! There was a water park on the ship, along with multiple pools and hot tubs, and so many restaurants and little shops. We would spend our days exploring the ship, going to the pool, and enjoying the amazing food. My favorite part of the cruise was when we were allowed to leave the ship and go explore another country. We went to Cozumel, Grand Turk, the Bahamas, and much more. I loved seeing the different cultures in all of these different countries. It's been five years since I've been on a cruise, and I'm looking forward to the one I will experience in two.

When I was eight years old, I hadn't seen much outside of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, until my whole neighborhood decided to take a trip to Jamaica. This was my first time being out of the country and I didn't know what to expect at all. When we first left our house I was beyond excited to go outside of Iowa, not to mention a different country. We soon arrived at the airport and before I knew it, I was standing in the longest line of my life, customs. We had been standing there for what felt like years before I finally saw the Jamaican sun. We then took a long bus ride to our resort where we were greeted with cool lemon scented towels and drinks. The resort was everything I expected, and much more. There was a huge pool with huge slides, unlimited food and drinks, and best of all, an amazing view of the ocean right outside our window. I spent my days tanning at pool, hanging out with my neighbors, riding jet skis with my sister, and repeating the same thing over and over. Before I knew it, my time in Jamaica as over and I was on my way back to Iowa, but the memories would last forever.
I had always loved the idea of leaving Iowa because I was tired of looking at the same fields every day. When my parents told me they had just bought a vacation home in Florida, I had never been so excited. I had only been there a few times before, but now I would be able to lay under the Florida heat a lot more often. We have had the house for several years now, and I have made some of the best memories there, to say the least. We always would go down on the holidays, on spring break, and even when there is a Hawkeye game in town. My favorite things to do when I'm down there are going to the beach, swimming in the pool, going to Disney, and the most recent thing I've done down there which I absolutely loved, was going to the Barnum and Bailey Mueseum. My parents even let me bring friends down there to enjoy the sun with me. The one thing I've learned while traveling to Florida is to enjoy the sun while I'm there and to never forget your sunscreen!
